King Arthur

I wish I could say I liked King Arthur, but I can't. I Have been looking forward to it for so long that I am now extremely disappointed. I thought I was going to see a "good" bad movie, but it was just all bad. The lack of accuracy didn't really bother me--I assumed there would be loads of mistakes before I even set foot in the theater. But it was all action. Very little plot. No character development. Very little acting. What worries me most is that Clive Owen's career will be negatively affected. He's a great actor, but it's difficult to tell that from this movie since he wasn't given much to work with. I would love to say lots of clever, snarky things about it, but I will leave that for others.

{EDIT}: There were two things I Liked about the movie: the inclusion of St. Germanus and Pelagius. Little is known about Germanus' time in Britain, but Bede says (if I am remembering this correctly) that he went there to sta,p out the Pelagian heresy. I read some Pelagius a couple years ago and liked what I read. It made sense to me--vert open and tolerant. Of course, I have only a very little experience with it, so I may have it completely wrong.

That's all for now.

You know, whenever Hollywood tries to make a "historically accurate" movie, it just winds up drawing attention to all of the aspects of the film that get it wrong. In a way, it's rather like the D.C./Marvel universes--every effort to create continuity merely emphasizes how absurd the whole exercise is.
